JGr.Ost versus four-engine bombers
Hello,
Uffz.Erich Schlenker has shot down a four-engine bomber. This pilot was a member of JG 26. Training at JG 103 and JGr.Ost. Could he get this victory at JGr.Ost? EK II.Klasse received 20.1.1944, before coming to JG 26. Please anyone have more information? Thank you very much everyone Regards Tony |

Re: JGr.Ost versus four-engine bombers
Hi Tony
I have no claims at all for this pilot. I checked JGr.103 and found this unit only ever made one claim, and that was in March 1944, and certainly not Schlenker. We Jgr.Ost there are thirty-four claims and three names, all for the same day I couldn't successfully identify, all made the same day 31.12.1943, all for Uffz and two were for B-17's, and both names began "Sch" :- 2./JGr.Ost B-17 1230 hrs 3500 metres Uffz "Schu......" 3./JGr.Ost B-17 1250 hrs 3500 metres A.S.M Uffz "Schautner" I'll seek out the relevant mikrofilm and check against "Schlemker" my guess is it's the 1250 hrs 3./JGr.Ost claim.. There were also six others for 05.01.1944 that were only found on the mikrofilm for each staffel listing date and time only. One was a B-17 by Hans Waldmann of 2./JGr.Ost. Then there are three for 4./JGR.Ost, and two for 3./JGr.Ost, all I have yet to put names to. As Waldmann's was a B-17, there is a good chance the others were. Kind Regards Johannes |

Re: JGr.Ost versus four-engine bombers
Hi Tony
Looked at the mikrofilm. It's bad handwriting rather than under/over exposed. Reading it again it looks like "Schlenkner" so am 98% sure it's your guy for the A.S.M 1250 claim. Kind Regards Johannes |
