Re: Coming Soon - "Harvest of the Grim Reapers" The Illustrated History of the 3rd & 27th Bomb Groups (1941-1942)
Update from the Stone & Stone site:
News from Colorado 14 December 2021 "We expect to receive Harvest of the Grim Reapers: The Illustrated History of the 3rd and 27th Bombardment Groups during World War II, volume I: Prewar - December 1942 on 10 January 2022. "All of the material is based on primary source documents from the veterans, their families and US and Australian archives. All combats include accounts based on WWII Japanese documents as translated and described by Osamu Tagaya. I have researched a full and accurate account of the development of the Doulgas A-20A-1 strafer project and the early use of the Havoc strafer bombers in combat by the men of the 89th and 8th Bomb Squadrons. The vast majority of the 700 + photos have never appeared in other publications. Jack Fellows has done tremendous work on the aircraft (A-20, A-24 & B-25) profiles. I am sorry that Larry Hickey is not here to see this." |

Re: Coming Soon - "Harvest of the Grim Reapers" The Illustrated History of the 3rd & 27th Bomb Groups (1941-1942)
Hello Edward,
Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I will contact Avonmore Books at the first opportunity. Of particular interest to me are the numbers of RAAF personnel on temporary secondment to the USAAF bomber squadrons, including the A-20, A-24, B-17 and LB30 squadrons in those dark days of 1942. Cheers & regards, ...geoff
