Hi All,
I would just like to confirm that the HW 5 series has more than loss lists. There are many examples of unit strength returns for both aircraft (with wnr.) & personnel (often with named individuals), particularly for 1944 & 1945. They mainly apply to the areas of most interest to the Western Allies, but there are definitely some Eastern front losses. It's important to remember that these are based on intercepted radio messages. Units that were still able to report on paper would not be represented: however as 1944 progressed you can see that many more units began to send their reports by radio. All types of reports faded away during April 1945. Finally it is possible to cover up to 20 volumes per day when using a digital camera, but you might need a break before your next visit to get your eyes back into focus!!. |
