Re: Gliders lost September 19 1944 over Belgium
Gliders and their pilots were USAAF, carried troops were US Army. I think first establish which TCG was towing these gliders with 401st GIR infantry that day and hopefully the relevant TCG or TCS reports of 19 Sep 1944 can shed some more light.
Cynically enough is that when there were no fatalities involved and soldiers were accounted for, not much can be traced about these widely dispersed early landings anymore.... Loading lists were destroyed after six months or so, I once heard. F/O Edson E. Slawson (1910-2004). T-127010. No MACR filed for him and passengers.
