Anson 19 September 1941

I am looking for information about an Anson shot up by a Ju 88 from 3./Kü.Fl.Gr. 506 on the 19th of September 1941. Can anybody help. I can supply with the German report

Nothing to report on the date you do mention on "Coastal Command Losses of the Second World War" by Ross McNeill.

I believed I would find something there...no luck.

Mistaken Identity?

19 September 1941

During the day a Beaufort of 86 Squadron fought a Ju 88. Sergeant Mansfield brought his badly damaged bomber home with one wounded crewman aboard.

Casualties 19th September 1941 - Royal Air Force.

86 Sqn - Beaufort -BX-J.
Cat B by Ju 88. Sgt Mansfield and crew safe, one injured.

Strangely Coastal Command Intelligence Summary makes no mention of any incidents on this date

No.86 Squadron ORB confirms:

19/9/1941

A/C. "J" whilst on a navigational exercise was attacked by JU 88. at 54.05N,01.50E. Rear gunner slightly injured (Sgt Hutson*).

* Possibly, 1064670 Sgt Maurice Raymond HUTSON + 20/9/1942, 42 Sqn. ME.

AIR 27/708/11
No.86 Sqn ORB (F.541) - 1941 Sept 01 - 1941 Sept 30.
