Re: He-219 ”Uhu”s found at the end of the war
Hey everyone,
as you guys were so eagerly debating the whereabouts of the He 219s at the end of war I thought that you might be able to help me with my question. This summer I have been able to acquire a small chunk of a (badly corroded) He 219 elevator, which was dug up at Ludwigslust airfield about 2 years ago. It shows some signs of shrapnell damage, so I guess it belonged to one of the machines damaged during the raid on Ludwigslust. Accordingly, I did some research hoping to find photographs of Ludwigslust airfield after liberation but really couldn't find any. Are there really no known photos? I know that Ludwigslust was quickly handed over to the Soviets, but I always had the impression that the US soldiers were avid photographers, thus I hoped to find atleast something. Cheers Claas |
