Wellington HE739

14/15 May 1944 Wellington HE739 82 OTU RAF Ossington. 8 aircraft took off from RAF Gamston satellite airfield on a Nickel Operation to Rennes. On return HE739 was circling Gamston when the port engine failed due to fuel starvation, shortly followed by the starboard one. The aircraft hit the tops of some trees, followed by crashing into more trees and bursting into flames near The Kennels on Thoresby Estate.
F/O Kenneth Johnson RCAF - Son of Forrest Sanford Johnson and Lillian Scott Johnson, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Born Lorain, North Dakota, USA, US citizen.
F/O George Oliphant RCAF - Son of John and Jean Oliphant, emigrated from Scotland to Toronto, Ontario, Canada; husband of Jeanne Patricia Oliphant, of Toronto. B.A. (University of Western Ontario).
Sgt Joseph Lanouette - Son of Pierre and Rose Lanouette, of Ste. Anne De La Perade, Province of Quebec, Canada.
W/O Jack Tass RCAF - Son of Eli and Pauline Tass; husband of Theresa Tass, of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Sgt Gordon McLellan RCAF - Son of David Gilchrist McLellan and Isabel McLellan; husband of Annie McLellan, of Milton, Ontario. Canada. All buried HARROGATE (STONEFALL) CEMETERY

Bomber Command Losses by W R Chorley only lists 5 crew, all killed, as do other sites. Although in RAF Stations Ossington and Gamston by W Taylor he states the rear gunner was not killed but does not name him, the other 5 are listed as killed. He says this was an all RCAF crew. Does anybody have a crew list, please?
