Re: Photos German Aircraft

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of an Aviatik P.14 :

https://www.ebay.de/itm/394991108867...QAAOSwRe9lTnFA

It has the numbers 151 below the cockpit. I'm unsure if this relates to the army Bestell Nr. number or perhaps more likely a manufacturers number. Having said that a P.14 152/13 is known to have existed, but that number is visible on the rudder which is not visible here.Has anyone an id for the aircraft types B.149/13 & B.150/13 as this may (or may not) help.

Regards,

Clint

Tricky Clint

Since there are no military markings as such visible I would say what we see
is a WNr rather than a BNr.

Cheers

Re: Photos German Aircraft

Hi Stig,

Thanks for the reply. As you'll deduce from my last post, I'm inclined to agree with you,not least because there's no /** after the 151. That said, I don't think that the fact that we can see no military markings on this early machine/photo is a clincher. I'm not sure if you own a copy of Aeronaut's Aviatik Aircraft of WWI,but if so take a look at the photo P.4 (1st edition) there is a photo of B.99/ in a hanger with no markings visible on the fuselage or upper wings.

Regards,
Clint

Re: Photos German Aircraft

I agree Clint

The problem with these early photos (well almost everything sold on e-bay) are we simply lack both dates
and places, so all we can do is to make a "best guess".

I usually myself date photos like this as "pre-delivery" since I don't think the German Army flew around
for long with aircraft lacking national markings at least not post 1913.

The further on we get in time (1914 and on), I believe the manufacturers painted up these Army markings
directly before delivery, including the Bestellnummer.

The problem with these early photos are we lack not only dates/places but also much other data.
For instance I have no idea where WNr 151 was going. To the Army or Aviatik's own school?
Since I am in New Zealand right now I cannot check any books or other data from back home....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photos German Aircraft

Hello,

Currently on ebay are a number of (rather small) photos of German aircraft as follows:

Zeppelin-Staaken RML.I

https://www.ebay.de/itm/225892647902...8AAOSwQCplZlH~

LVG C.II 4295/15

https://www.ebay.de/itm/225892646001...gAAOSwBbxlZlGF

Euler B.II B.137*/15 & Aviatik C.I (Han) C.600/16

https://www.ebay.de/itm/225892644756...EAAOSwMRZlZlKb

Presumably, more to follow when the seller notices that many items are posted showing the rear of the photo?

Regards,

Clint

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of Euler Doppeldecker Wnr 189

https://www.ebay.de/itm/296100777186...QAAOSwP5tldaP9

While the sellers watermark does detract from the quality of the photo, I thought it worth posting given its rarity.

Clint
