Re: Luftwaffe claims against Lysander’s 15/16 May 1940

Hi all,

On the 15 May did any Luftwaffe units claim shooting down a Lysander aircraft. I am really sorry about being vague but all I know is it was on this date.

Another one on 16 May. However I know this was post 18:00 and in the area of Vallenciennes.

Thanks for your help.

Geoffrey Sinclair offers the following:

From the now quite old online lists
13-May-1940 Ltn. Horst Braxator: 2./JG 1 Lysander Hoogarde day
14-May-1940 Oblt. Heinz Kupka: 9./JG 3 Lysander Gembloux 19.50
16-May-1940 Fw. Karl-Heinz Bothfeld: 1./JG 27 Lysander La Chapelle 06.50
17-May-1940 Hptm. Wolfgang Schellmann: Stab II./JG 2 Lysander S.E. Brüssel 08.35
17-May-1940 Ltn. Wolfgang Kosse: 6./JG 26 Lysander Mons 18.30

To which can be added that Willi Fronhoefer's "Mureaux" claim on 15 May 1940 was most likely N1260 (according to Peter Cornwell) or L4813/OO- of 13 sqn. P/O Alan C. Ollerenshaw (NZ) and LAC Charles F Lucas both KIA

Perhaps that is tied in with Danny152's query?
