Tricky one Clint

Four different FE.2 used the Presentation name Montreal No2
I have chosen A5661 for one reason only and that is the Roman digits IV.
A5661 was the fourth one using it.
Right or wrong? No idea....

Thanks Stig. I did wonder about this. Why were multiple aircraft assigned the same presentation name and number As you're aware Montrel No.2 being far deom an isolated example.? Any thoughts?

I can't say straight away why, but it was very common.

I believe it had to do with a decision taken by Sir David Henderson that a SOC aircraft should
be replaced with another one carrying the same donor name.
The Cross & Cockade publication I use as reference does not explicitly say so but I think that
is what they mean. That publication is a bit old by now and only states three Montreal No2, but
their separate, and much more recent, FE2 book gives one extra aircraft in its list.

In the intro to the first reference they say that appx 600 donor names are known and they
were used on appx 1400 aircraft. Unfortunately not all donors can now be connected to an
aircraft's identity.

Bombing St. Quentin Rail Stn left 4-31pm attacked by Hostile Aircraft on way out, engine hit Forced To Land CROIX MIA (Capt Hon. TWPL Chaloner (POW) large escort never appeared, aircraft captured, to Holland 16.5.18. Chaloner repatriated 21.1.19.
