A similar picture is in HS Stapfer's Stangers in a strange land" p. 49 and captionned as taken in Paris-Nanterre Beutepark 5.

Almost as strange. Why would they drag a crashed B-17 which came down some 11 mls NE of Kiel
down to Paris?

Makes no sense to me....

To me, this looks like a recovery and scrapping operation. In the immediate post-war period, Allied aircraft were stacked/assembled in this way for recovery of metal in Germany.
