December 5th 1944

Hi,

Looking to ID German units involved in opposing a Bomber Command attack on the Marshalling Yards at Hamm. A Avro Lancaster of No.195 Squadron was badly mauled by a reported Bf109G but was claimed destroyed by the gunners. The Lancaster was obliged to force land in Belgium. Any pointers welcome.

Thank you.

Steve

They were from JG 27 and IV/JG 54, but there was so much mess in the air, also involving 2 TAF apart of escorts, I was unable to make any sense out of it. Escort fend off some Fw 190s from a Lancaster tail, I wonder if it was the one, which was damaged. I have no information on any other Lanc being attacked.
Franek
PS Check the forum, I think there is my old request about German losses.
