Luftwaffe Losses over England

HI,
Could anyone provide details over unit, place and how lost concerning these Luftwaffe personel who I believe were lost over England:
Unteroffizer Josef Schmitt - 18.08.40;
Feldwebel Josef Schwarz - 11.10.40; and
Uffz. Karlheinz Altpeter - sometime early January or February 1944
With thanks
Rick

Re: Luftwaffe Losses over England

I hope this will help;

Luftwaffe losses on October 11th, 1940:

KGr 606 - 2 Do 17s destroyed, 1 Do 17 damaged,
1(F)./121 - 1 Ju 88 missing over Scotland,
1./JG 77 - 1 Bf 109 shoot down, crashed in France (fighter cover for Jabo mission over Ramsgate),
1./JG 51 - 1 Bf 109 damaged over Canterbury, landed in France,
5./JG 27 - Bf 109 of Uffz. Wiemann shoot down, pilot wounded, saved from Channel by Do 18.

There were mostly Jabo missions on that day.

You could have some problems with August 18th - Luftwaffe personnel losses were: 94 KIA, 40 POW, 25 WIA...

Regards

Nef

Re: Luftwaffe Losses over England

I don't found anyone of these three, the lists for 1940 are rather complete, so 2 out a bit too much, what is your primary source ???

Re: Luftwaffe Losses over England

Thanks Brian for information about Karlheinz Altpeter. Primary resource for Josef Scmitt and Josef Schwarz both come from sterbebild where both are listed as lost on a feindflug gegen England.
Hope that helps
Rick
