Red Wind Continues: The Soviet Offensive on the Southern Flank, November 1944-May 1945 - off topic
I feel this book should be mentioned since events on the ground can be linked to air attacks and anti-aircraft positions. Scheduled for June. From the Stone & Stone site:
News from Bulgaria 21 November 2024 Kaloyan Matev, author of the well-received Red Wind over the Balkans: The Soviet Offensive South of the Danube, September-October 1944, kindly sent us the following information about contents of his upcoming Red Wind Continues: The Soviet Offensive on the Southern Flank, November 1944-May 1945: 2 - The Third Ukrainian Front redirection from Yugoslavia to Hungary |

Great news!
I have "Red Wind over the Balkans", an excellent book that sheds light on what is probably the most neglected part of the Second World War, looking forward to the follow-up, as I had a great-grandfather who served in the ranks of First Bulgarian Army. I don't know whether the name rings a bell to Western readers but Kaloyan Matev has been producing some excellent studies since his book on the Bulgarian Armored Brigade from the early 2000s (regrettably, it had an atrocious translation in English making it almost unreadable). |
