Siegfried Knemeyer flights to Denmark?
In the recent issue of AXISWings there is an article on Knemeyer. There is a statemant that he flew to Denmark several times in 1944. Does his Flugbuch exist anywhere?

Re: Siegfried Knemeyer flights to Denmark?
Hi Junker,
Nice catch! Indeed, it seems that Knemeyer could test an Ar 234 at his own discretion. According to Pawlas, Arado Ar 234 Der Erst Strahlbomber der Welt, (1976), he made the seventh test flight of Ar 234 V9 on 21.3.1944 for 17 minutes at Alt Lonnewitz (p. 89) and another, the ninth test, of about 30 minutes on 29.3.1944. He, later, on 11.8.1944 made the eleventh test of Ar 234 V15 W.Nr. 130025 (with two BMW 003 turbojets) 15:35 - 15:48 hours at Oranienburg and, in the same aircraft, on 23.8.1944 made the twenty-second test 20:05 - 20:26 hours, (p. 381). For some reason, he personally ordered that the Ar 234 V7 be returned from Rheine to Oranienburg for repairs in the first week of November 1944, (p. 387). I, too, hope his flugbuch turns up and confirms the story of the pastries. Jim |
