Hello,
As far as I can find, Beaufort I, L9957 . Photo in post number3277 . AIR Britain just has a short note - "10th October 1941to SAAF". However "85 Years of SAAF" has for L9957 - SAAF Serial -758. Delivery date 24/11/41. Engine failure North of Brooklyn, f/landed 27/02/42. Repaired. Crashed in Tanzania during ferry flight to RAF in India 05.03.44. Used probably by the Coastal Squadrons of SAAF, 32,33,34,36,37 or 16 or 20, SAAF in Madagascar ? As the photo shows the old RAF serial number maybe she never had the SAAF serial number applied . Or if following the 1942 repair she received the SAAF number. In which case the photo is of the February 42 forced landing . Then again would full RAF markings have been applied for her flight to India ? Alex
