Lt John B. Hoggs Jr. (?) - USAAF - E & E - Oct/Nov 1944
The 24 Nov 1944 War Diary of the British HQ 227 (H) Inf Bde (15 Scottish Inf Div), then stationed at Horst, Dutch province of Limburg, states:
"During the day, First Lt John B Hoggs, Jun, American Air Force pilot, who had been shot down six weeks previously and had evaded capture by acting as a deaf mute, came into Bde HQ, and was able to supply infm about the local defences." Assuming his name was spelled correctly (or Higgs for that matter), who can identify this USAAF pilot? Shoot down apparently somewhere mid-October 1944. Found no E & E report or MACR with name of Hoggs at first sight. Any lead welcome, thanks. Leendert |
