Colonel Gaston Charles Louis Joseph Adam GCII/7
This officer led GCII/7 from January 1942 until July 1943. He does not appear to have fought in 1940 and may have been in North Africa during the conflict. Can anyone give me details of his service? He was born in 1907 and died in 1978 and left the Armee de l'Air with the rank of Colonel.

Re: Colonel Gaston Charles Louis Joseph Adam GCII/7
Hi,
Are you sure it was a pilot from II/7. Commander of the Group was Cpt Adam in 1943 (and Cdt Papin). Maybe he wasn't a pilot ? Stef |

Re: Colonel Gaston Charles Louis Joseph Adam GCII/7
Interestingg. If he came from 1er RA at Aix then he was serving in the Vichy enclave. Perhaps indeed he was not a pilot but a staff officer with proven loyalty to Vichy? Poret states that the (unidentified) successor to Durieux was a Vichy man. I assumed that he meant the successor in 1941, but perhaps he meant the one who succeeded Durieux after his second period in command in 1942. Poret's books are published in 1991 (i.e. after Adam's death). He does not appear to have been given command of a flying unit after 1943 and retires as a Colonel.

Re: Colonel Gaston Charles Louis Joseph Adam GCII/7
Gaston ADAM was a militay pilot. He had its wings in october 1928 at Avord.
When he posted to GC 2/7 he began to "re-fly" on NAA 57 on 28/01/1942 then Dewoitine D.520 Cdt Durieux left on 17/10/1941 Cdt Pierre Dumouchel de Prémare took command of GC 2/7 but KIA in a flying accident on 08/11/1941 Cdt Durieux took again on 14/11/1941 Cdt Gaston Adam arrives on 21/01/1942 |

Re: Colonel Gaston Charles Louis Joseph Adam GCII/7
Cheers Bertrand, if he has to train on NA57 and D520 it suggests he may have flown multi-engine aircraft or light aircraft before being given command
