I don’t see him in any of registers or lineal lists I have available after the above noted 1949. I did find profile where someone is selling an autographed photo which stated: “. . .He remained in the Marines, however, until 26 June 1952 when he was discharged as a captain.” See https://www.ebay.com/itm/296430720761
