Stacker was Maj. Milton Joel's wingman and attacked by Ju.88s, the Group reported the action as S. of Oldenburg / 20m. W of Bremen the primary target. This was Mission 130 escort by 45 P-38s ( 55FG) and 345 P-47s (7 Groups); the 55th lost 7, 3 POW, 4 KIA.
P-48H 42-67059 CG-H. MACR 1438.

Yes I know. I have the Marc. That what makes this interesting. Would not be the first one that is not correct in crash place I tell you that.
I think its his plane but wrong place on the site. I think the Bergentheim location is for the b-17.

The 355FG lost a P-47D (42-7944 WR-P "Speed / Lil Jo") on the 13th., Lt. Col. Hubbard evaded; crash site Hardenburg 5 Km. N. of Bergentheim as per 355th history. Possible confusion with the P-38 as the caption says "P-39" ?
If I remember right the KU Report says Bergentheim.
