Re: Eagle Days: Life and Death for the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain

Dr. Taylor's latest post on 'X' about me: '@SpitfireFilly has blocked you'.

Here is someone who, IMO, is not interested in accepting that others can point out errors in her book. FACTUAL errors. The correct information being available for decades. She resorts to accusations against me of harrassment (can you fuckin' believe that!)!

Absolutely beggars belief!!!

Re: Eagle Days: Life and Death for the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain

Had TOCH been able to register new members (as I hope a reborn version will), VT might have replied here but so far she hasn't been able to. I'm looking for a workaround.

Meanwhile, haven't you got a rather impressive new book of your own to feel good about John? Don't let this get you down.

P.S. Your post reinforces my perception that X is something people use to make themselves unhappier than they otherwise would be.

It doesn't get me down, Nick. But I do take exception to an individual who, because I posted the truth about the content of her book, turned on me and started laying false allegations against me. I have refrained from making any personal attacks on her.

You know the 'bomb' I mentioned in a previous post two days ago, because one of those other members on here she made veiled accusations against copied it to you. You know exactly what I am talking about, whereas others not presently party to her e-mail to us don't.

And had she been able to reply on here, or reply via a third party, do you think her reply would be all sweetness and light? I really wouldn't enable that if I were you, Nick. I say that in the nicest possible way, because, if she were to come on here and start laying into some members (which appears to be her modus operandi), the response would be off the scale to anything else that has ever been said on here before.

As for me, 'X' was something that I always thought was a 'chat-only' site. When I found that one could post pics I joined, and have since put up the covers of all my books. I pointed out the errors in her book on there, and that's when the shitstorm against me started.

That's all I will say for the present...

Sweetness and light have not exactly been the predominant characteristics of posts on the Eagle Days thread so far, have they?

They (the posts) have been honest. And that is what she apparently does not like. As someone said in the last day or so, 'If you cannot take the heat, get out of the kitchen'.

You put a book out there, with the title and sub-title used, and old-hand researchers and authors, as well as the general public, will get a copy and assess the content. You put it out there, and you take the bouquets and brickbats equally. The fact she did not take kindly to some of the objective criticism speaks volumes...

I say the above with the best of intentions, Nick. If you feel it is time to hand over the reins to someone else, I will happily take over from you...

You say you've contacted her. Any update?

If she prevaricates, I'll post up the complete e-mail so others can see what she said exactly...

Re: Eagle Days: Life and Death for the Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain

A trend I'm seeing involves rewriting history to suit the author. Testimonials are shown in the book's Amazon listing. The praise hides the bias of the author. Too often, authors think "I'll just go on book tours, appear here and there, and my book will sell."

If it is off topic, if it contains bias, it should get the valid criticism it deserves. Also, the general public needs to be warned.

Some authors have this fictional idea that history can be done differently. That books about past events need useless additions. This in an attempt to promote their imaginary ideas about what they think history should be. Facts are facts. That never changes. When new evidence appears then by all means, add it to the historical record. Anything else falls under "history my way." No. Never.
