364th Fighter Group pilots/photos
NARA has over a dozen photos of 384th Fighter Squadron, 364th Fighter Group pilots taken in March of 1945 plus a few more towards the end of the war or just afterwards. Some are in their flight gear, others in their uniforms. They are very clear but unfortunately, no names are included; captions say things like "A" Flight or "D" Flight--frustrating to say the least. These are group shots of anywhere from four to eight pilots and while I can identify a couple from other photos I have, the majority are unknown. Does anyone have a list of the pilots involved or know where these may be found? I am still hoping to get a publisher for my 364th manuscript and would love to include these photos, but without names I hate to do so. Thank you for any help or guidance anyone can give.

Always with the negative waves!
There is a list of pilots associated with 364th, but not sure if complete in the Roger Freeman collection. https://www.americanairmuseum.com/ar...ghter-squadron Aside, there is a sort of daily AAF personnel reurns at NARA. I guess a list of pilots could be extracted but those are large files, and I have not worked out how to use them or search through them - not quite user friendly. Franek |

Franek,
I have a complete roster of the 364th and all squadrons. I am looking for the names of the pilots in the photos. I can't place names for all the faces. Kent |

Kent do you mean the NARA photos on pp.4-6? The only one I saw in Ollie Joiner's 364th History was no. 71834AC "Just Plain L" with names (p.81)......
Taylor, Schwartz, Costin, Honaker, Johnson, Piazza, Dal Maso. Nick |

Well, a pointer to the photos may help. You can also try picture search, sometimes you can find them identified over the web, eg. by families.
The other way is to search for pictures of particular airmen, you have no photos of. Not easy, but I did identify a few men from a pciture, though this was easier as I was matching names to faces. Finally, I would make a post here and on social media indicating that you are looking for portrait shots. It does work, I get responses even a few years after I have posted a meesage. Franek |

Re: 364th Fighter Group pilots/photos
Nick,
Among the NARA shots I am talking about are 71829AC, 71830AC, A-71829AC, B-71829AC, C-71829AC, 71842AC, 71838AC, 78693AC, 71841 AC, 71836AC, and 71835AC. On the photo you mention, I am not sure about the Dal Maso ID, I have that guy as Lefforge but could be wrong. Kent |

Dal Maso?
Interesting. Not a very common name. There was an Ilario F Dal Maso (347582) an Ensign then Lieutenant j.g. in VBF-88 from January 1945 thru the end, flying F4Us off USS Yorktown (CV-10) over Japan from 10 July thru 15 August 1945 in the last carrier strikes of the war.
