Luftwaffe Operations Over Devon 7 Mar 42

At around 0925hrs on this date, four Bf 109s strafed Exmouth, Teignmouth for around 40 minutes, also shooting down Sgt Kazimierz Sztramko of 317 Sqn who crash-landed at Bolt Head. No bombs were dropped which means it was not a Jabo attack by 13./JG 2 but was this therefore a bomb-free test mission by this unit?

Air-War 1942 John Foreman has this on Sztramko:
p172 "This claim by an unidentified pilot from either 1.(F)/123 or 3(F)/123, both of which units operated a few Bf 109s."

Re: Luftwaffe Operations Over Devon 7 Mar 42

Sorry but from my research this was not the MO for recce Bf 109s. They were there to take photos in pairs not to engage in strafing and remaining in the area at low-level for 40 mins
