Lt RC Macintosh - SAAF - 55 Sqn in Italy - POW
Hello,
This South African officer was the pilot of a 55 Sqn Boston V, BZ583 which failed to return from an intruder sortie on the night of 29/30 January 1945. Of the four crewman, he was the only one to be captured, one was killed and the last two evaded. I'm looking for the full identity of RC Macintosh. Does anyone know? Many thanks Phil |

Re: Lt RC Macintosh - SAAF - 55 Sqn in Italy - POW
Hi Phil,
I checked the 55 SQN Appendices (AIR27/525 page 7 and 18) via National Archives and looks like it is Lt R C Mackintosh (note spelling). Online viewer is not great but service number appears to be 329181 V. Could be Roy Cameron according to google search. Some SAAF experts might be able to confirm. regards, Drew |

Hi Phil,
The 'General questionnaire for British/American ex-prisoners of war' he completed mentions his Christian names Roy Cameron. He was born on 22/06/1922 and captured injured. Best regards Luc |
