Re: BF 109E and location of Werkenummers
Just looked at a crash-landed Bf 109 with its cowling off and stenciled white four numbers are visible to the front of the engine block. Now whether that is an aircraft or engine number is another matter but being stenciled would not be as permanent as usual Wk Nr plates

Re: BF 109E and location of Werkenummers
In this interesting JG 77 colour video, there is atleast three Focke-Wulf licence built BF 109E-1's: WNr. 4065, 4067 and 4085.
(WNr. 4 001 - 4 090, Bf 109 E-1, Focke Wulf Flugzeugbau, Bremen) JG 77 BF 109 in 1939 Focke-Wulf used rounded edge Werkenummer-plates and those can be seen in video 5:22 ja 6:07. One FW built BF 109E is still around and under restoration and that is WNr.4034. |
