Smile Joseph Priller's 109E-3 Autumn 1940 wrkno??

Hi Buddies

does anyone know what Wrk no was used on Staffelkapitan Joseph Priller's 109E-3 of 6/JG51 in Autumn 1940? I know he went on to fly FW190s in 1944 but the model I am making is his ME109. He was yellow 1 and RLM 70/71/65 in the rough pic I have. Thanks.

I'm almost sure it was Bf 109 E-3 W.Nr. 5057.

Hello,

Yes, I confirm. My records also show that WNr.5057 was flown at least from July till October 1940 by Oblt. Josef Priller, while he was Staffelkapitän of the 6./JG51.
Later in April 1941, this originaly Bf109 E-3 was flown by Hptm. Herbert Ihlefeld with the Stab I.(J)/LG2.

regards,
Tomislav

Hi Guys

Thanks a lot that's saved much searching. I can get the stencils cut now.
If anyone has any pics especially colour it would be brilliant. I have a port side view and can guess the rest but not sure if he had armour head plate fitted.

It seems, that armour plate was later added when that aircraft was assigned to LG 2 and flown by H. Ihlefeld.
On that shots, known to me, during JG 51 service that Emil typicaly didn't have armoured headrest.

hope I helped a little
Kuba

ps - do you make a model of that aircraft?

Hi,
color photo of the tail You find here: www.messerschmitt-bf109.de.
One b/w too, and color profile (left).
I think You have to use (on model) the RLM Grau 02 too.
regards,
emil
