Mhmm, I am not sure what 'liberation' of Auschwitz had to aviation but it must be noted here that it was only a change of ownership. The camp was taken over by Soviets and became a transition point for Poles, mostly soldiers of Home Army before transportation to Gulags in Siberia.
Also a statement 'first political prisoners arrive at Oswiecim' needs some comment - actually decisive was Polish nationality and education but of course there were plenty of people involved in underground went there as well, including airmen like płk. Juliusz Gilewicz, who organised escapes for the airmen from Poland tio France. 'Political prisoners' does not sound very fortunate for me. And of course I am surprised there was no mention of 1.09.1939! |
