first mission to berlin
hey all -
i work with a computer program that shows random trivia occasionally. one recently claimed that 'the first allied bombing mission over Berlin killed the only elephant in the Berlin Zoo.' any truth to that?

I have never heard that.
As far as I know the first Allied bombing mission against Berlin was flown by ONE french bomber in June 1940 and achieved nothing, except for propaganda value.

Story seems to ring a bell or two. Yes i think I have read the story of the Zoo being bombed. But cannot recall if it was the first Berlin Raid. Alex

I also remember this. It was during the 1st Week of March , 44. berlin attacked on 3d ( Fighters ) , 4th , 6th , 8th. During one of these the
Berlin Zoo was hit. Many animals killed or got loose . Cheers
