I am wondering if Concrete or Concrete Bomber would not be more appropriate translation into English, but I must admit I have never seen any such nickname first hand. I wrote an article on development and history of Il-2 based on Russian sources, and I would say there is so much myth around the aircraft, that even nicknames are not true.

I agree with you Franek, many "urban legends" tied to nicknames such as the "Whispering death".
But "Zementer" is found in many German pilots personal accounts, like "Indianer" or "dicke Autos".
