FW units over Vienna on August 28 1944
Guys:
Am currently reading Bob Goebel's War Bio, "Mustang Ace" & this gave rise to a question: On August 28, 1944, on a mission to Vienna he was dogfighting an expertly flown ME 109 when he was bounced by what he said where a couple of FW190s who chased him all over Southern Austria, before he finally pulled away from them using Emergency power (for a LOT longer than is recommended by the way!); in a nutshell, I am totally unaware of any FW equipped fighter units operating in Southern Europe at this time, so I am curious if the identity of the unit these FWs belonged to---or IF in fact they were EVEN FWs... Thanks, ahead of time NickM
