10/05/1940 He111 KG54 St Kpt Fritz Stadelmeyer

Hi !

Hptm Fritz Stadelmeyer is often given as crashed with his He111 on 10/05/1940 near Courtrai (Kortrijk), Belgium.
But a crewmember (A.Hueckelmann) , who got killed during the crash, is reported to have been first buried at Brugge, which is more than 40 km (approx 25 m) from Kortrijk.
Is the crashlocation ,Courtrai, not correct ?

Best regards

Luc

Hello,
I'm the nephew of Hptmn Fritz Stadelmayr (Staffelkapitän) who was shot down and killed in the Ukraine at he beginning of the "Russland Feldzug". Do you have more Infos about my uncle, or do you know where to get more? I'd appreciate your reply; thanks in advance - Fritz Stadelmayr
