Re: Werk No. Pilot ID please?

Rob,
I'm afraid I can't help you any further.
Perhaps the two pilots shared an aircraft occasionally, or one inherited the aircraft from the other?

Good luck,
Dennis

Re: Werk No. Pilot ID please?

Hello all,

Me 109E-4, w/nr 1464, black 8, of 5./JG 3 crashed in Channel on 5 Sep 40. Pilot was rescued. Rob, do you have a picture of this fighter?

E. Burath flew Fw 190 w/nr 581 on 31.1.43 during a sortie near M. Gladbach. This was not his regular plane - mostly < + , < 0 + at that time.

Best wishes
Rob

Re: Werk No. Pilot ID please?

There was a series of photos of WNr. 1464 on e-Bay and the Falcon photo site a couple of years ago. Also if you do site search with JG 3 and/or Larry Hickey as key words you'll probably find one of the more interesting discussions from this board from a couple of years ago as well.

Re: Werk No. Pilot ID please?

Hello Jim,

Thanks

It was Unteroffizier Fritz Mias' Me 109. Alas I do not have a confirmation that it was Unteroffizier Mias who crashed with this Me 109 in the Channel on 5 Sep 40. Do you have more details?

Best wishes
Rob
