Damaged B 17s on April 18 1945

Hello,

B-17s of 93rd Combat Wing, 8th AF, should be attacked by Me-262s on April 18 1945 over territory of Czech Republic during raids against Kolín and Pilzeň (Pilsen). USAAF gave information that 1 B-17 was damaged beyond repair and 17 others damaged. Does anynone know which planes it were? From which Squadrons or Groups? I didn´t find any MACR. And does somebody know who was reason of these damages?

Thanks for help

Michal

Dear Michal,
on 18 Apr 1945 during Kolin mission a B-17G-80-BO s/n 43-38096 of 490th BG was badly damaged by Me 262 cannon fire, but was able to return to base. Repaired and flown back to USA on 6 July 1945.
As it plane was "only" damaged and returned to base, you didn´t find any MACR.

Re: Damaged B 17s on April 18 1945

Dear Jiří,

it appears to be 1st really candidate out of 18. According to my source planes should belong to 93rd CBW, while 34th BG didn´t lose or have damaged any plane, so possible candidate are from 385th, 490th and 493rd BGs.

Thanks, it helps

Michal
