As Chris says on the other forum this was likely to be T9+FH of 1/Versuch.OB.d.L which fell to two Spitfires of 322 Sqd. off the Essex coast. Ff. Ltn. Joachim Baumer POW, B Ltn. Paul Hongold and Bs Ofw. Hermann Dietz missing. The Junkers was on a recon. to Chelmsford and was engaged at 34,000 ft but despite use of boost was hit in port engine and lost height as flames spread crew baled out but only the pilot was found by a rescue launch unconscious and slightly burnt.
Another Ju 88 of 3/(F)33 was reported missing this day dut I have no other details,
