Lt. Bruno Worm from I/JG6

Hello,

following loss information

"21/03/45 Lt. Bruno Worm I./JG 6 Fw 190 F-8 (961196) Unknown reason
near Aslau."

I assume this is the Bruno Worm who was shot down by SubLt. Goldberg from the 104 GIAP direct over airfield and succesfull bailed out. At that time the soviet camera man and other soviet newsman was on the airfield, therefore this episode was later in the soviet movie "Pokryshkin"(1945).

Could somebody say something about Bruno Worm before he became soviet POW? Any kills ? The soviet foto show him with EK I and II class.

Thanks

My records show the machine was an A-8. Where did you get F-8? Rodeike shows the 961 block as A-8 machines.

Lt. Bruno Worm was only since mid January 1945 with I./JG 6 and he had not scored any victories. He ahd been a flight instructor until the end of 1944.

regards,

John.

This is not entirely correct! He was retrained as a fighterpilot with 1/JG 102, from 20.09.44-26.10.44, in Aalborg-Ost/DK!

At that time he did not wear the EK 1, only EK 2.

Re: Lt. Bruno Worm from I/JG6

Junker,

well, I consider September 1944 late 1944...... anyway, your data is correct. After 1./JG 102 he transfered to 6./EJG 1 and then to I./JG 6.

I am convinced that Lt. Worm did not score any victories with I./JG 6 but he must have flown at least 25 combat flights as his uniform shows the Frontflugspange. Perhaps he received the EK I for these flights.

If you have any documents on Lt. Worm, I would appreciate copies.

John.

Hi John

I do have pages from his Flugbuch concerning his stay with 1/I/JG 102 in Aalborg and a photo!! Are these of any interest to you???
