Re: Klemm Kl 36 A

That's super information! The picture of D-IDIR clearly shows the HP slats along the leading edge of the wing.

The main ID plate for Kl 36 A WN. 659 (D-IBAV) lists the motor type as "HM8A".

Re: Klemm Kl 36 A

Bruno Lange says, the HM8U was the HM 15O U built ONLY for the 1934 Europa Rundflug .(240hp by 3000 /min)
I think without any proof that after the competition your Kl 36 got a HM8A
(210hp by 2900/min) ,not so " hot " as the HM8U .
Your Kl36 A was piloted by the famous Morzik .He had to give up in Italy between Tunis and Rom on the 12th september 1934

Now about those Kl 36 :
- Kl36A As17 A for the Europa Rundflug ;one lost during the trials .
- Kl36A HM8U most for the Rundflug .three blade propeller .One of them with enlarged wings .
- Kl36B HM 508F simplified version with modified wings and undercarriage.
- Kl 36 B Siemens Sh 14 A4 radial " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " ". "
- Kl 36 B V7 Argus As 10 C D-IUHU The only Klemm with retractable landing gear (when we forget the Kl 104)

Re: Klemm Kl 36 A

Hi Richardb

The D-IHEX as it looks on the picture is indeed D-IHEK

It looks at a first a X because of the curves of the wing.
But a closer look you see the difference in the legs of the K
one short and a long one wich a X does not have.

Regards

Peter van Gogh

p.s could you give me your Email adress to pvangogh123@hetnet.nl

Re: Klemm Kl 36 A

Peter and Richard,

Thank you again for your help in establishing the history of the Kl 36A 1934 competition airplanes, in particular D-IBAV. May I ask that if any more information or pictures turn up, please contact me at: sfp54@aol.com.

Best regards,
Steve
