Where to publish?

Hi, guys

After my last few visits to BA, I now feel I am able to write an article with in depth coverage of the loss reporting system of the WWII German Luftwaffe.

Do any of you have an ideas on where I should publish this, besides online?

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Where to publish?

There is only one aviation magazine I regularily purchase for various topics of interest to me, including the Luftwaffe. That's AVIONS, in France. You may consider publishing your study in there.

Besides this, or better said parallel to this, there are several German aviation magazines (partially) dealing with the history of Luftwaffe, e.g. Jet ξ Prop. Other forum members can surely point you towards the best 'vehicle' to publish your study in.

Good luck, and keep us informed!

P.S. Too bad, Luftwaffe Verband is not around any more...

Re: Where to publish?

I'd put my chips in for Jet & Prop for the German speaking population and perhaps Aeroplane or Fly Past for the rest of the world.
Dénes, I fully respect your advice as there are good publications, but honestly, today a rather small portion of readers are fluent in French. Today the English language is ruling if you would like to communicate with a larger global reader's circle. Of course Mandarin is big too, head count wise - But not regarding this subject yet!

Andreas, mentioning online - What's happend to the "Aviation History Society Norway Forum"? I don't see you posting lately. Defunct?

Best regards,
Goran

Re: Where to publish?

Take a look at this link Goran and follow the discussion forum link...

With regards the article, keep us in the loop with this one please Andreas... I may have an interesting proposition that would enable you to make this available in print to English speaking Luftwaffe enthusiasts...

cheers

Re: Where to publish?

Andreas

hope you had a good Xmas and New Year. Lets hope 2008 will be kind to us all.

I can give you editors emails for the following magazines I have published in. I am sure all would be interested in the loss listing story.

Aeroplane Monthly/France - UK
Le Fana - France
Flugzeug Classic - Germany
Revi - Czech.
Flight Journal - US
Classic Warbirdss - NZ/Aus

There are other countries of course thought whether there is a large enough readership for your specialism, you will have to see. Is it mainly text or photos/graphs?

regards

Mark

Re: Where to publish?

Hi Andreas.
I agree that it should be in English.
The most widely read mags that you mentioned is Fly Past or Aeroplane Monthly, as that hits the restoration chaps as well.
Down here in S Africa the above two are also the only ones available.
Please let us know where it is published. We are pretty far away from any archives down here.
Be good

Re: Where to publish?

Perhaps Im Focus would fit the bill? I see no member mentioning this fine Mag?

Re: Where to publish?

To be honest I'd not take "Flugzeug Classic" for such an article as it concentrates more on classic planes nowadays. For that topic Jet&Prop is the much better choice in Germany.
