Re: Any info on Gruppo Aerosiluranti 'Buscaglia' losses 1944 ?
Happy New Year to all the members of this forum.
Dear David, regarding you questions: on 10-3-44, during the attack conducted by six SM79 @ 22:40 along the coast of Anzio, a SM79 (B2-07) was shot down by night fighters (crew: Ten.pil. Teta Giovanni; Serg.M.pil. Poggini Alessandro; 1°av.marc. Rizzo Gino; 1° av.mot. Siolo Amilcare; Serg.arm. Nuvoli Andrea). on 13-3-44 I am aware of only one loss: during a (solo) ferry flight from Perugia to Gorizia (for the replacement of a torpedo) a SM79 (B2-08) was shot down near the Rimini coast by enemy fighters (crew, all MIA: Ten.pil. Balzarotti Giuseppe; Serg.pil. Berni Tullio; Serg.M.marc. Buzzinelli Stanislao; 1°av.mot. Verroni Vero; M.llo elet. Bellagamba Mauro). source: Carlo Unia, Storia degli Aerosiluranti Italiani - parte Quinta Best Regards Marco |

Re: Any info on Gruppo Aerosiluranti 'Buscaglia' losses 1944 ?
David,
my main source is the book "Storia degli Aerosiluranti Italiani" by Carlo Unia. It was published in 1974 by Edizioni Bizzarri - Roma. The book (426 pg.) describes in detail the history of all the Italian Aerosiluranti groups, with a day-by-day account of the missions from 1940 to the end of the war. Another source, "L' Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana" by Nino Arena confirms the data listed in my previous post. Regards Marco |
