Re: Wanted: Colour schemes for German Ju-87D-3

Hi, Pathfinder...

Some early production Junkers Ju87D-1s had the Ju87B sub-type's undercarriage spats, ie big and chunky, and without the leather cover on the leg. According to Squadron/Signal Junkers Ju87 in action, this was because of flight trial weaknesses in the landing gear forks and mainwheels of the new-style undercarriage, so the decision was taken to go with an arrangement that was already proven to be satisfactory.

Regards...

Well, it's labeled "D1-5" (i.e. anything between the D-1 and the D-5); it isn't a D-5 as it has the "normal" wing (not the long span wing) and it can't be an (early) D-1 as it doesn't have the B-type spats.

A D-5 would normally have MG 151/20 cannon in the wings as well.

Thanks guys, great info. Think I'm going with the spat sirens in my artwork.
