History of Fw 190 G-3 160896

Hi,

'White K + ' captured at Gela is not your aircraft, because it was actually an FW 190 A-5, W.Nr 1339.

W.Nr 160 896 was from later in the war. At the earliest it was built in December 1943. I say this because W.Nr 160 866 was built in late-December 1943.

The most likely unit would be I./S.K.G. 10 (which was later known as III./K.G. 51 and N.S.Gr. 20). However, there are lots of other possibilities. The following units all operated the FW 190 G-3:

Stab S.G. 1, II./S.G. 1, III./S.G. 1, II./S.G. 2, Stab S.G. 4, I./S.G. 4, II./S.G. 4, Stab S.G. 10, I./S.G. 10, II./S.G. 10, I./S.G. 77, II./S.G. 77, I./S.G. 151, IV./S.G. 151, I./S.G. 152, I./S.K.G. 10, II./S.K.G. 10, III./S.K.G. 10, IV./S.K.G. 10, N.S.Gr. 20, III./K.G. 51, Erg.Staffel (Nacht)/S.K.G. 10, plus a couple of fighter units.

The closest FW 190 G-3s I know of are the same as previously mentioned, W.Nr 160 878, 160 914 and 160 918.
