16 April 1945. Spitfire escort P-38 and P-51.

Hi,
On 16 and 17 April 1945, Spitfire of Groupe de Chasse II/7 “Nice” escorted P-38 and P-51 over Ulm/Stuttgart/Sigmaringen.

Does anybody know why fighters escorted such fighters ! Could it be fighter-Bomber of IX Air Force ?

TIA

Bertrand H

Hi

Oops, I had the replies in my library ! Lighting and Mustang were from GR 1/33 « Belfort » and GR 2/33. (infos from the book : “Pilotes Français sur l’Alsace et l’Allemagne by Daniel Decot)
