Liberator loss over Biscay

Hi,

Seeking details of a PB4Y-1 Liberator lost over Biscay in November 1944.

Crew - their fate, a/c serial number etc.

Alex,

You probably mean PB4Y-1 BuNo 32032 (ex-USAAF B-24D 42-40429) lost on 12 Nov 1944. VB-103.
Sank U-508 in Bay of Biscay that day.

Will look for crew details (10 MIA).

The one was for 8th November 1944 did I get the year wrong was it 1943 ?

Another loss was for 31st March 1944 what have you for that loss ?

Hello Alex,
I have BuNo 63940 "L" Lt Moore shot down by Ju88s 10KIA on 31March 1944 . Chris Goss has the details in his work of art "Bloody Biscay" I don't have it to hand at the moment. HTH

There were two PB4Ys lost on the 31st March '44. Both shot down by fighters over the Bay of Biscay.

I believe they were both shot down by Oblt. Dieter Meister of ZG1 within 30 minutes of each other!

All three a/c were from VB-110 out of Dunkeswell. Above taken from 'US Navy PB4Y-1 Liberator squadrons in Great Britain during WWII' by Alan C. Carey.
