Re: RLM colours please.

As usual you are just preaching. We just don`t want to to read your post, we want to see your evidence that RLM79 (I`m repeating again or you have something with your eyes?) was not used on Eastern Front.

Speak about yourself, please. 79 was not the standard for the theatre, hence it is to prove it was used there and not otherwise.

Re: RLM colours please.

Hi all - interesting thread.

Without getting joining in a slagging match, these are the finished colours applied to the Fw190 A-5/U3 1227 White A of 4./JG54 lost on the 19th July 1943.

The original factory colours were 74/75/76 as of April 1943.

It was repainted possibly Jever before deployment but more likely at Siverskaja where she was based in the summer of 1943.

The JG54 field colours here consist of a sand colour, a brown violet colour and a dark green colour. I will let everyone else discuss whether it was an RLM code or not. Ken Merrick is the expert so I will go along with his assessment. These were protected areas of paint and had hardly an UV degradation or weathering.

The colours were spectroanalysed by Glaserit in 1995 though currently they have not been checked to see if they match a unblemished RLM paint swatch.

From photos we know the JG54 operated different 2/3 colour combinations of greens and browns. I think these photos shows this Fw190 carried a irresputable segmented three colours combination though the green is missing from these two photos.

Hopefully 1227 will shortly be painted in the three colour recorded at the time and when complete she will be a beautiful girl (Please no discussions on the rights or wrongs of the restoration. This has been covered elsewhere).

regards

Mark

Re: RLM colours please.

Brown definitely look like brown used in desert. Any info about the spectroanalysed by Glaserit in 1995? This will for sure give most precise answer about the color.

Re: RLM colours please.

i think the theory that 61/62 may have been reused as 81/82 is starting to seem correct. i am no expert on any of this, but i think it is clear that there was brown and green availiable at the time the 109f im asking about was in service. now just because we know that 81/82 wasnt in use till 44 it goes mean that 61/62 wasnt used by certain units.

another example to colours is the B 17 when painted in olive drab. a lot of people believe it to be a green colour when in fact it was more a brown colour in most applications. however none of this really solves the problem of what colour was the 109. even the colours on the G10 yellow 7 i posted are in dispute, i have seen that 109 in a number of colours but no one seems to be able to settle on which one is correct.
