Hello,

does somebody know if US bombers and fighters of 8th AF participated in some dog-fight in Dresden Area on June 21 1944? Are known any losses of US planes in this Area on June 21 1944?

Thanks for help

Re: Operation Frantic II June 21 1944

Hi Mike and Michal,

the shot down A/C was from 63. Sqn. of 56. Fighter Group, 1st Lt. Harold Matthews. The P-47, 42-26305. He went out of his Sqn. and after he was straffing a train between the towns Altenbeken and Neuenbeken (10 km east of Paderborn) his A/C crahsed after a collision with trees. His remains were buried in Neuenbeken. After the warin 1946 his remains were recorvered und his parents bring him back to the USA.
