Panzerschreck on fighters?

In the BArch, I found the following:

Quote:
Nr. 20282/45 vom 23.2.1945: Einsatz von Panzerschreck durch Jäger gegen feindliche S-Boote bei Swenta/Memel
Norbert Hannig (Ex-JG54-pilot) told me about this, I didn't believe him, but now I have it black on white .

Does anyone know more about this?

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

The only examples of this sort of thing that I know of was "Sonderkommando Bienenstock" and their sorties with the Buecker 181 in Austria.

the Bücher 180 Bestmann was armed with Panzerfaust, NOT with Panzerschreck!

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

Being in office I remember some final war Fw 190s depicted in one of Wings of the Black Cross 1, 2 or 4 carrying the triple racks for the Panzerschreck

Regards

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

The JaPo volume on the Fw 190F and G has a photo of an F-8, sw. 7 from 5./SG 77 with the triple rack for the Panzerschreck 1. I have seen other photos, but cannot recall where.

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

Yes, there were Schlachtflieger 190F/G with several versions of Panzerblitz and Panzerschreck.
In 1945, there were even some tests with R4M air-to-air missiles (JGr.11 afaik) on Fw190A.

What is new that there were fighters (presumably Fw190A from JG54) equipped with Panzerschreck. This is what is new to me.

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

As I recall, at least one Fw 190 was captured after Bodenplatte with Panzerschreck racks. I'm away from home right now or could give you a copy of the intell drawing of the installation.

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

"Wings of the Black Cross No 2 p 16, 17, 36":

"Black 33 + -" Fw 190F-8, W.Nr. and unit unknown, Ingolstadt-Winden, Germany 1945...equipped with "Panzerschreck" anti-tank rockets

Does this help?

Regards

Roland

Re: Panzerschreck on fighters?

Roland,
I think there is a typo in your message; the correct markings are 33+-

George,
You are right. On 1-1-45 9./SG.4 lost 584233, brown 12+^^ south-east of Asch. (Bodenplatte, Putz/Manrho) ( Crashed enemy aircraft report 265)

Post war a number of F-9 were discovered on Fl.Pl.Zeltweg. All of these had tactical codes, so it seems they were operational. Many of these had Panzerschreck racks. They were from the 42xxxx an 44xxxx werknummer series.

Dennis
