Obfw. Max Martin
Gentlemen: Don Caldwell's "JG26 War Diary, Vol.I" refers to an Obfw.Max Martin being transfered in to 8/JG26 on 8.10.40. The Text makes mention that Max Martin was a Former Bf110 pilot with 3/ZG26, having flown 29 combat missions, and achieving one victory claim with that unit. Can anyone provide the date of that claim, or failing that, anything on if it was made during the F/C, or the BOB? Thanks. Dean.

Re: Obfw. Max Martin
Hello Dean --
To keep you from a null score, let me refer you to my "naval grid" post of 13 Feb. After checking my book (always a good idea), I can add to that post that Martin was in 3./ZG 76, not ZG 26 ("26" is implanted in my brain), and he was flying a Bf 109 when he claimed his victory, on the Western Front in the Phony War. Re: Obfw. Max Martin
Don: Thanks for clarification on this. I'm an avid fan of Zerstorer unit's, but having said that, I do have all of your books on JG26, as well as the soft cover 'Photo Album", excellent books! I appreciate your response. Cheers. Dean.
