Re: News from Greece

Hello Byron,

Well, you are right that there was not Fl Kommandatur at Mycenae. It was during the invasion that the Raf probably used a small field for operation. The reason for that was that there was no cover for the aircraft at Argos airfield. The whole thing lasted just about a week.Thats only what i know.
By the way ,is any photo existing showing Agrinion airfield?

regards,

Aviator

Re: News from Greece

Steve, Byron,

Just in case you haven't got them, by process of elimination and comparison of records:

He111 H-6 4433..................1H+EP
He111 H-5 3874..................1H+AP

27 May 1942 6./KG100 loss was He111 H-6 7218 ........6N+CJ (One of my relatives died in this one)

Regards,

David

Re: News from Greece

Hi Byron,

Thanks, I'd already got the details but don't worry about the WNr/codes difference. They are different aircraft which used the same codes but at different times.

The sortie to the Suez Canal on the 8 May 1941 was a bad one for KG26 as at least four He111s were lost :-

3850 1H+AP, 3870 1H+BC, 3885 1H+FN, 3887 1H+FP

Regards,

David
