Lt. Darwin Nichols-African-American aircrew?

On another website (http://hitlernews.cloudworth.com/) there is a recent article on the treatment of blacks in Hitler's Germany. One paragraph refers to an African-American pilot Lieutenant Darwin Nichols, who was sent to a Gestapo prison in Butzbach.
I can find no reference to a Lt. Darwin Nichols but the USAAF MIA website
has a Corporal Darwin O. Nichols, s/n 16188450,AAF, reported MIA May 8,1945[last day of war].

Anyone have more information?

Re: Lt. Darwin Nichols-African-American aircrew?

Right, I found this information on Footnote. Its interesting that Lt. Nichols was reported as POW in the initial MACR report but then was listed as KIA afterwards. Also, I thought that African-American aircrew only served with the 332nd FG not a regular 8th AF Bomber Group.
Just to check this out, I did a Boolean search on the term Negro (old non PC) + "AC" in the NARA data base and came out with about 25 aircrew POWs who were listed as Negro. Lt Darwin Nichols did not turn up on my initial search.
