Re: Blenheims losses May 1941

Hi Robert,

01.05.41 two Blenheims were lost on this day unfortunately none specifically attributed to II/JG52, one was however lost to flak so the other might be your aircraft. The aircraft lost to fighters was a 105 Sqn Blenheim IV V5823 GB- and it ended up making back to the UK making an emergency landing at 1420 in a field at Buck's farm, Cookley, 2miles SW of Suffolk. all crew injured.
F/L Goode
P/O Hogan
Sgt. Roland

I actually have the 24.5.41 claim being made by Lt. Karl Rung of 2/JG52, the balance of the info. supplied by Hans for this claim is identical.

19.05.41 cannot find a listing of any Blenheims lost on this day

31.05.41 Here again I have no listings for Blenheim losses for this day.

Are these claims coming from German sources, i.e. unit claims, flugbuchs etc.??

Hope this helped.

Jeremy

Re: Blenheims losses May 1941

Jeremy,

thanks a lot.
This claims are coming from official claim list so it could be overclaiming.
The claimant from 19.05.41 is Balthasar from stab/JG2 and I must say on this time he was not so reliable as earlier (e.g. Battle over France).

Regards

Robert

Of course lets not forget mis-identification of targetted and claimed aircraft.
