Hmmmm! The 78FG web site has this aircraft listed:

42-25536P-47DMX-Lost 8 Aug 44 - Lt. James T Fitzgerald KIA

Something is amiss somewhere.

Glad you noted the 78 Fighter Group a/c.

However that one was indeed

43-25536

MX-J, East of Brias, on St. Pol/Lille Road.
